Sammons & Berry, P.C. is led by J. Kirkland Sammons and Mark T. Berry, two seasoned litigators whose careers have included complex railroad, asbestos, industrial accident and catastrophic injury cases. Their approach combines trial preparation, appellate experience and personal attention for clients facing life-changing circumstances.
J. Kirkland “Kirk” Sammons
A veteran, trial lawyer and appellate advocate, Kirk Sammons founded Sammons & Berry, P.C. after building a legal career centered on complex litigation and representation of injured workers and families.
Before entering private practice, Kirk served in the United States Army with a combat engineer battalion in the 3rd Armored Division during the Gulf War and earned the rank of Sergeant. During his military service, he was selected to serve in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps, where he received his initial legal training.
After military service, he earned an undergraduate degree in finance from the University of Houston and graduated as a member of the Honors College. He later attended South Texas College of Law, where he served on the South Texas Law Review and Currents: International Law Journal and participated successfully in moot court and mock trial competitions. While in law school, he also served as a judicial intern to the Chief Justice of the Texas First Court of Appeals.
Over more than two decades, Kirk has tried cases to verdict against major corporations and has handled appellate matters in both federal and state courts. His experience includes railroad, industrial and asbestos-related litigation, as well as coordinating appellate work involving issues presented to the Supreme Court of the United States.
Mark T. Berry
Mark Berry is a longtime litigator whose practice has included transportation, railroad, asbestos and industrial accident cases throughout the United States.
Raised in Houston, Mark earned his undergraduate degree in economics from Texas A&M University and received his law degree from South Texas College of Law in 1993. He began his legal career as a litigator and developed a nationwide transportation and railroad practice.
Mark has traveled across the country handling catastrophic injury claims for railroad and industrial accident victims. His trial work has included significant verdicts, including recognition by VerdictSearch for one of the Top Texas Verdicts in a FELA case.
As a managing shareholder at Sammons & Berry, P.C., Mark helped grow the firm’s work representing railroad and industrial asbestos clients. His professional recognition includes selection among the Top 10 Asbestos and Mesothelioma Trial Lawyers and membership in the Million Dollar Advocates Forum. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas.
